What is happening?
The cool pool at Radium Hot Springs Aquacourt is currently undergoing repairs. While the hot pool remains open to the public, the cool pool will remain closed until further notice. Construction estimates indicate that the cool pool construction will continue into winter, estimated timelines are subject to change. Additional information and reopening dates will be provided as available.
What do you need to know:
- Construction noise may be audible from the hot pool.
- Once renovations are complete, the modernized cool pool will feature heated decks, a faster lane swim experience with surface level gutters to reduce waves, a new accessible lift for mobility-limited users, and improved safety features.
- Entry pricing for the three Canadian Rockies Hot Spring facilities (Radium Hot Springs, Banff Upper Hot Springs, Miette Hot Springs), is standardized. The upgraded cool pool at Radium Hot Springs provides an additional benefit for the same entry price, unlike other facilities that only offer hot pools.
- To date the construction project has resulted in over $3 Million being spent with regional businesses. We would like to express gratitude to local companies, businesses, and the community for their continued support.
- The cool pool has not undergone significant renovations in nearly 25 years. This work will ensure the long-term viability of the Aquacourt for future generations of Canadians

Background:
The Radium Hot Springs Aquacourt was constructed between 1949 and 1951. Between 2016 and 2019, Parks Canada invested over $9.5 million on initial phases of restoration of the over 70-year-old facility. This included upgrading mechanical systems, renovating the restaurant, gift shop, and change rooms, replacing the roof top sundeck, introducing energy efficient technology and the capture and use of excess geothermal energy.
The current $13 million federal infrastructure project will continue the restoration, ensuring the heritage value of the Radium Hot Springs Aquacourt is protected and that it continues to be a cherished visitor experience for years to come.
